Fri. S.J. boys’ roundup: Bordentown defeats Pemberton

Carter scored the game's first run on Austin Chaszar's single, and Tommy Walters later knocked in a run with a single.

Scotties pitcher Scott Gorish pitched a two-hitter, holding the Hornets to a pair of seventh-inning runs.

Also in Burlington County, Heath Fillmyer started the bottom of the first inning with a home run, igniting Florence's 5-3 win over visiting Burlington Township. Adam Schmidt and Michael Fantozzi added RBIs in a four-run fourth inning.

Olympic. Kyle Hohwald struck out 10 Shawnee batters in a complete-game effort, carrying host Pennsauken to a 4-3 win over the No. 9 team in The Inquirer's South Jersey Top 10.

Washington Township staked pitcher Tyler Bright to a 3-0 lead and Bright threw a complete game with seven strikeouts to beat visiting Winslow Township, 4-2.

Cherry Hill West rapped 19 hits in a 14-1 win at Triton, including four hits by Alex Injaian (two RBIs), and three hits each by Nick Trivigino and winning pitcher Ben Machtinger (two RBIs).

Jeff McGarry knocked in three runs, helping Lenape rally for a 9-7 win at Cherry Hill East.

Paul VI snapped a 1-1 deadlock with four fourth-inning runs en route to a 7-3 win over visiting Timber Creek. Tyler Keen lined a bases-loaded single for the key hit.

Colonial. Haddonfield dumped host Haddon Township, 11-5, as Nick Cavanaugh pitched six shutout innings with five strikeouts. The Hawks' Mike Byrnes homered in the seventh.

Two hits and three RBIs each by Harry Sturgis, Brandon Thayers and Tom Jakubowski carried West Deptford past visiting Paulsboro, 11-1.

Audubon's Justin Jannetti (3 for 5), Boomer Wickersham and Keith Micholski drove in three runs apiece during a 20-3 win at Collingswood.

Tri-County. Delsea's Nick Freijomil pitched five innings to get the win and helped himself by poking two hits in a 6-1 triumph over visiting Deptford. Joe Beiner added a pinch-hit RBI double.

Penns Grove's Chris Thompson pitched a complete game to get the win and also singled and doubled for two RBIs while fueling a 7-3 win at Cumberland. The Colts' Mike Casper went 2 for 3.

Trevor Datz's three hits and four RBIs sparked Pitman's 24-1 success at Schalick.

Cape-Atlantic. Cory Dick went 3 for 3, drove in four runs, scored twice and also handled the pitching chores for St. Augustine in a 12-0 shutout of visiting Mainland.

Egg Harbor Township notched its first win, pulling off a 5-0 surprise over visiting Ocean City, which suffered its first loss. Alex Ciaramella and Zack Meyer combined for the eight-hit shutout, and Ciaramella also homered.

Millville spotted visiting Vineland a 6-2 lead before rallying to win, 7-6, on Andrew Biggs' walkoff two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.

Ryan Irwin poked a two-run double for what proved to be the game-winning runs in Absegami's 7-6 win over visiting Atlantic City. Jordan Welch pitched 31/3 no-hit innings and went 2 for 3 at the plate.

Delaney Classic. Jordan D'Orazio launched a walkoff grand slam in the sixh inning, ending Clayton's 15-5 win over visiting Woodrow Wilson in a first-round game. The Clippers, who will play the winner of Saturday's Bridgeton-Woodbury game for the title, also got three RBIs by Eddie McGonigle.

N.J. Vocational Tournament. GCIT won a first-round game, 14-0, over visiting Camden County Tech as Chris Giunta and Jake Danner combined to throw a two-hitter, and Zach Funk had two hits and three runs scored.

Lacrosse

Owen Demmerly dominated Shawnee's 10-6 win over visiting Peddie School by scoring seven goals.

Senior midfielder Nick Cook chalked up 11 ground balls, and Jake O'Donnell fired in five goals as Moorestown Friends dealt visiting George School a 13-4 setback.
