Absegami storms past Lower Cape May in OT

Avery Cunningham's foul shooting fueled Absegami's 10-point scoring run to end overtime, and the visiting Braves stunned Lower Cape May, 53-50, in Cape-Atlantic League basketball action on Monday.

Cunningham, who finished with 17 points, made three of four free throws in the extra period as part of the 10-0 run by Absegami (5-4). The spurt, which included two baskets and six foul shots, came after the Tigers scored the first seven points of overtime.

Cape May (10-4) got 19 points from Vance Matthews.

Also in the Cape-Atlantic, St. Augustine, ranked No. 2 in South Jersey by The Inquirer, trailed host Hammonton by five points at halftime before Isaiah Morton (13) and Charles Monaghan (14) sparked a comeback for a 76-46 win.

Jate Chesul's season-high 30 points fueled Holy Spirit's 82-55 win over visiting Sacred Heart.

Burlington County. Four three-pointers by Noah Taylor aided an 18-point effort, and Willingboro, which built a 24-10 first-quarter lead, sailed past host Northern Burlington, 57-43.

Nonleague. Cruize Rainey missed a three-pointer with his Lindenwold team trailing by a point, but teammate Jason Hutzler (14) grabbed the rebound and scored on a put-back with two seconds left as the Lions edged host Pennsauken Tech, 55-54. Hutzler's basket was Lindenwold's third field goal of the second half.

Luke Dickson unloaded 38 points at Woodrow Wilson, highlighting Pitman's 72-61 win. The Panthers trailed by a point after three quarters before finishing with a 24-12 run, including Dickson's 6-for-6 foul shooting.

Cherry Hill East's 84-46 win over visiting Princeton Day featured Chris Santo's 37 points and nine rebounds, Marc Schlessel's 17 points, and Sam Rose's nine assists.

West Deptford's Tim Fair (21) and Tom Jakubowski (22) combined for 21 points in a 24-8 fourth-quarter comeback as the host Eagles beat Delran, 61-44.

Seneca got four straight pins from Nick Moore (160 pounds), Declan Deveney (171), Oliver Palumbo (189) and Hunter Pepper (215) during a 40-35 Olympic Conference triumph over visiting Shawnee.

Mike Marini had a technical fall at 140, and Evan Wayns (215) and Brian Smolsky (285) added first-minute pins as Cherry Hill West edged host Washington Township, 41-23.

Colonial. Haddonfield battered visiting Gateway, 76-6, as Kevin Gregorio (125) had a 22-second pin among four falls in less than a minute.
