S. Jersey Girls: Cooper leads Buena to 4-2 girls' soccer win over St. Joseph

Kaitlyn Cooper was all over the soccer pitch Monday, which was a good thing for Buena in a Cape-Atlantic match against St. Joseph.

Kaitlyn Cooper was all over the soccer pitch Monday, which was a good thing for Buena in a Cape-Atlantic match against St. Joseph.

Cooper struck for a goal in each half and assisted on the game-winning goal as the host Chiefs got past the Wildcats, 4-2.

Cooper helped Buena (8-4) take a 2-1 lead at halftime, but Danielle Garvey scored for St. Joseph to tie the game early in the second half. Cooper then assisted on a goal by Sydney Zorzi that broke the 2-2 tie with 36 minutes left in the game, then scored an insurance goal.

Brianna Harper also scored for the Chiefs who got three saves from Brenae Johnson. Tykeemah White also scored for the Wildcats.

Allyson Franchi assisted on the goal which came from inside the 18-yard line.

Burlington County. Lauren Donahue, Breanna Hudik, Megan Messina and Kayla Pagnani scored goals to give Bordentown a 4-3 win over visiting Willingboro.

Gabrielle Ashman collected two goals for Maple Shade in a 6-1 win over host Medford Tech.

Nonleague. Emily Macklin scored the game-winning goal 15 minutes into the game and Carly Crispin stopped 11 shots to preserve the shutout as Pitman got past visiting Gateway, 1-0.

Field Hockey

Madeline LoGuidice scored off an assist from Rachel Emerson and boosted Moorestown to a 1-0 win over host A.L. Johnson in a nonleague game.

Taylor Varga picked up her eighth shutout of the season after stopping seven shots for the Quakers.

Carisa Ruiz scored with 1 minute, 23 seconds left in regulation and pulled Burlington Township into a 1-1 overtime tie with host Riverside.

Taylor Sherlock assisted on the goal and Caroline Goodman made seven saves to preserve the tie for the Falcons.

Jen Eisenberg beat Hammonton for four goals and Mainland tripped the host Blue Devils, 5-4.

Amanda Ryna got the win in goal after stopping four shots for the Mustangs.

Jess Lucas scored with 11:59 left in the game and handed Bordentown a 1-0 win over host Maple Shade.

Buena got a pair of goals from Karlie Gruccio and beat visiting Vineland, 4-1.

Gina Rios and Ashley Surran also scored for the Chiefs, who outshot the Fighting Clan, 19-4, and held a 13-4 advantage in corners.

Katy Hannigan came through with two goals and two assists to lead Rancocas Valley to a 5-0 win over visiting Cinnaminson.

Hannigan had a goal and two assists in the first half. Sara Lemyre collected her seventh shutout in goal with a pair of saves for the Red Devils.

Erin Laverty notched a hat trick and paced Holy Cross to an 8-1 win over visiting Medford Tech.

Carolyn and Stephanie Bacho added two goals each for the Lancers.

Cape-Atlantic. Megan DeMarco scored twice and knocked in the eventual game-winner in the first half to give St. Joseph a 3-1 win over visiting Holy Spirit.

Jamie Radetich assisted on the game-winner for the Wildcats (10-0).

Lower Cape May got a goal from Jessica Dougherty with 7:55 left in the first half and beat visiting Middle Township, 1-0.

Colonial. Lauren and Megan Hall each scored goals to lead Haddon Heights to a 2-0 win over visiting Woodbury.

Alex Marshall scored twice in the first half and Shannon Riley tallied twice in the second half to lift Haddonfield to a 4-2 win over host Audubon.

Beth LaBar scored twice and helped Collingswood beat visiting Paulsboro, 6-0.

Aimee Mulholland earned a hat trick and led Gateway to a 7-0 win over visiting Overbrook.

Olympic. Nina Orwitz scored the lone goal of the game with 7:11 left in the gama and handed Cherry Hill East a 1-0 win over visiting Cherokee.

Blaire Janney stopped 14 shots to earn her second shutout of the season for the Cougars.
