Clearview beats Toms River East to advance in Group 4 wrestling

The Pioneers, seeded fourth in a six-team field, dominated the upper weights, winning seven of eight bouts from 140 pounds to 285.

Adam Pierson contributed a 17-2 technical fall at 152 pounds, Mike Emma had a 30-second pin at 215, and Dan Garwood followed by getting a pin with 30 seconds left in his 285-pound matchup.

Absegami moved into the semifinals with a 38-20 win over visiting Lenape in which Anthony Tamburelli (140 pounds) had a 6-5 decision, and John Willette (130) and Kevin Stadtmueller (215) added major decisions.

South Jersey Group 3. Lopsided shutouts by Jon Ferrell (112) and Evan Million (125) highlighted Northern Burlington's 40-21 success against visiting Matawan.

In the closest matchup, the Greyhounds' Cody Melton survived a 3-2 heavyweight thriller against Andre Hodge.

Timber Creek, ranked No. 2, battered visiting Moorestown, 60-3, with technical falls by Brandon Keller (130) and Kevin Birmingham (140), plus a 48-second pin by Dom Ruggierrio (135).

South Jersey Group 2. Ervin Ray had a 2-1 decision at 215 pounds, and Alex Irwin scored a pin with one second remaining at 145, highlighting Collingswood's 54-19 verdict over visiting Manchester Township.

Also for the Panthers, who will meet Delsea in the semifinals on Wednesday, Tony Giancola hurried to a 50-second pin at 112, and Eric Hamrick needed just 59 seconds to get a fall at 152.

South Jersey Group 1. Pennsville ousted visiting Audubon, 41-18, started by Trent Hampton's 50-second pin at 285.

The Green Wave led by 18-14 until sixth-ranked Pennsville swept the last seven bouts from Colton Newsome's 9-0 decision at 140 pounds to Anthony Jaglielski's forfeit win at 215. Kenny Emmons (152) notched a 15-0 technical fall and John Ecret (125) added a 17-0 technical fall.

Collin Bunch edged Devin McMonagle, 4-2, in the closest matchup at 160 pounds, followed by Anthony DeVito's 11-5 decision at 171.

Central Jersey Group 2. Delran watched a 24-4 lead disappear, but won the last two bouts after host Allentown rallied to tie the score at 27-27 and advanced with a 36-27 win.

Dan Pak gave the Bears a 30-27 lead with a 4-0 decision at 140 pounds, and Travis McDowell (145) left little doubt about the outcome with a 15-second pin in the final matchup.

Central Jersey Group 1. Bordentown doubled visiting Robbinsville, 42-21, as Ted Rigas survived a 3-2 decision at 103, and Robert DiPierro followed with a 4-2 verdict at 112.

The 10th-ranked Scotties piled up points with pins from Brandon Mazur (125), Shawn Gavin (135), Drew Pedersen (140), Khalid Shakir (160) and Matt Bauer (215).

New Egypt also advanced to the semifinals via a 39-24 win over visiting Point Pleasant Beach. Tyler Miller (171) and Aaron Reed (215) got third-period pins to give the Warriors their first points on the mat, and Matt Carr rallied for a pin at 103.

South Jersey Non-Public B. Holy Spirit beat host Holy Cross, 9-25, behind pins by Garrett Paolone (119), Joseph Bewley (140), Angelo Dawson (152), Christopher Cortes (171) and Gary Stinson (125).

Burlington County. Eight pins, including a 31-second fall from Nicholas Pagan (140) and a 38-second pin by Eric Lofton (285), carried Rancocas Valley past visiting Pemberton, 72-9.
