Marple Newtown football moves step closer to tying for league title

After Marple Newtown's defense forced a safety, Cameron Mathes caught a 54-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Paoletti.

Paoletti then connected with Dash Bulgerian on a 20-yard touchdown pass, and Kyle Tobin blocked a punt that was recovered in the end zone to give the visiting Tigers a 22-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Mathes' would come up with another touchdown reception in the second quarter, this time from his brother Alden on a 42-yard pass. Bulgerian also caught his second touchdown from Mathes on a 28-yard pass.

Bicentennial League

Jenkintown 46, Lower Moreland 7 - Jake McGrath threw two touchdown passes, and ran for 73 yards and two more touchdowns in the Drakes' rout of the visiting Lions.

McGrath opened up the scoring with a nine-yard touchdown run.

Then he connected with Steve Charlemange on a 33-yard touchdown pass, before a 41-yard interception return by Jason Plange made it 21-0 by the end of the first quarter.

McGrath had continued success in the second quarter, completing a 20-yard touchdown pass to Michael DiValentino, then scampering 27 yards for his second rushing touchdown.

John Contoudis came up with a 25-yard interception return before halftime, and Christian Solis came up with a 42-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Public League National

Boys' Latin 20, Lincoln 14 - Malik Johnson rushed for two tocuhdowns on eight- and three-yard runs en route to a road win for the Warriors.

Friends School League

Pietro Berghella recorded his seventh shutout of the year, and his sixth in league play, as visiting Germantown Friends played Friends' Central to a scoreless tie after double overtime.

The Tigers and the Phoenix are tied for first in the league.

Inter-Ac League

Jays Jennings made six saves to record a shutout in Penn Charter's 2-0 win against Haverford School.

Max Jacobs and Matt Kestonbam scored a goal each to provide on offense for the visiting Quakers.

Non-League

Andreas Blobeo and Robert Chukinas both found the back of the net, as Lower Merion went on to blank Upper Merion, 2-0, at home.

Sebastian Jenkins made three saves in the shutout.

Girls' soccer

Public League

Sujana Rai netted the game-winner in a penalty shootout to give Furness a 1-0 win against Girls High.

The host Falcons won 3-2 in penalty kicks, after their matchup with the Gazelles went scoreless throughout regulation and double overtime. Isabelle Seideneberg recorded the shutout in goal, and also scored in the shootout, along with Suk Tamang.

Kieran Lee scored twice in the second to lead Moorestown Friends in a 2-1 win over Shipley at home.

Izzy Robinson-Cloete scored twice in George School's 4-0 home shutout of Germantown Friends.

Selah Kamau and Kate Klaver also scored for the Cougars, while Faith Boucher made tow saves in goal.

Katy Repholz netted a hat trick to lead Moorestown Friends in a 5-1 road win over Westtown.
