S.J. boys: Gares paces Burlington City past Maple Shade

Nick Gares played an all-around game, striking out nine in six innings and going 3 for 4 with a double, triple, and four RBIs to lead Burlington City to an 11-1 victory at Maple Shade in Burlington County League play on Wednesday.

Julian Rodriguez had three RBIs and Nate Mathis added two for the Blue Devils.

John Kinnerman had three hits, including a double, for Maple Shade.

In other Burlington County league action:

Tim Petrucelli hit a home run and Jack Farrel had two doubles as host Holy Cross shut out Pennsauken, 8-0.

Olympic Conference. Max Milano hit a grand slam in the fifth inning and Sean Heine pitched a complete game as Shawnee blanked Cherry Hill East, 10-0, at home.

Billy Eisler went 3 for 4 with a double to lead Camden Catholic over Seneca, 8-2 on the road.

John Stankiewicz struck out eight in six innings and went 3 for 4 with two doubles as Cherry Hill West earned a home victory against Washington Township, 8-2.

Tri-County. Dan Hurff went 2 for 4 and had two doubles and three RBIs as Triton edged Hammonton, 4-3, at home.

Colin Carr allowed two hits and struck out five in six innings for Triton.

Colonial Conference. Brandon Jenkins allowed one hit and struck out 13 in six innings as Sterling defeated Collingswood, 4-0, at home.

Jayson Bullock went 2 for 2 with two RBIs and a triple.

Tyler Blair had a triple and Jim Sayles had a double for Sterling.

Cape-Atlantic League. Mike Sharkey struck out 10 in six innings and Fred Spiewak was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI to guide Wildwood Catholic to a home victory against Bridgeton, 9-4.

Nelson Martinez and Shaheem Pace both had doubles for the Bulldogs.

Ja'Ques Colon had a triple and Jose Rodriguez had a double to guide Vineland to a 3-2 home win against Oakcrest.

Davo Salvo had five strikeouts in seven innings for Middle Township, which scored off an error to edge Lower Cape May, 1-0.

Lacrosse

Matt Smith led all scorers with three goals and Conor Gaffney picked up 12 ground balls as Lenape defeated Washington Township, 17-2, at home in Olympic Conference play.

Scott Fayan, Liam Baker, Matt Ingersoll, and Matt Lajoie each had two goals for the Indians.

Jake Dzierzgowski scored both of Washington Township's goals in the loss.

Nonleague. Aiden Blake led all scorers with five goals and Josh Van Dekter added four to fuel host Haddonfield to a 15-4 win over Gloucester Catholic.
