Pa. Girls: Bodine girls roll to victory

Bodine's Tiana Garvin has had a stellar basketball season, and Wednesday afternoon's Public League game against visiting Franklin Learning Center proved to be more of the same.

The sophomore shooting guard scored a game-high 22 points as the Ambassadors rolled past FLC, 52-37.

Garvin, who is averaging about 20 points per game, also contributed 16 rebounds and eight steals. Octavia Johnson led the Bobcats with 17 points.

In other Public League action:

Chelsea Woods poured in 44 points as Freire Charter downed visiting Mariana Bracetti, 73-53. Woods, a senior forward, finished one point shy of her career-high of 45. Bracetti's Keishla Gilmore did her best to keep up as she scored 37 points.

Nine of Tenee Pina's team-high 14 points came in the fourth quarter as Girls High slipped past host Southern, 42-33. Seven of her nine points came at the free-throw line. Madirah Mercer led Southern with 14 points.

A 24-14 advantage in the second quarter helped Central fend off visiting Franklin Towne Charter, 57-51. Kayla Henderson and Shanique Mattis each scored 14 points for Central, and Symantha Marrero added 13. Franklin Towne Charter's Alexis O'Neill led all scorers with 21 points.

Ciera Nimmons contributed 29 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals in Northeast's 66-47 triumph over host Bartram. Bryce Garrett was Bartram's leading scorer with 31 points, and she also dished out 10 assists.

Dorian Jones scored 11 of her 15 points after halftime as Overbrook topped host Mastbaum, 36-30. The Panthers allowed just six points in the first half. Jazlyn Chavis and Cierra Kelly each tallied 13 points for Mastbaum.

Alexis Roscioli notched 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists in Swenson's 42-21 win over visiting Penn Treaty. Taylor Fluellen added 11 points.

A commanding first half helped visiting Science Leadership jet past Masterman, 35-20. Science Leadership held a 22-5 lead over Masterman going into halftime. Devia Terry led Science Leadership with 14 rebounds.

Pioneer Athletic Conference. Brooke Erb drained three three-pointers and scored all of her 11 points in the first half as Boyertown downed visiting Pottsgrove, 58-30.

Friends Schools. A strong defensive showing from host Shipley and Tenisha Pressley's 12 points helped the Gators top Academy of the New Church, 59-29. Maya Overton and Courtney Redcross each contributed 10 points. Lucy Raymond scored 25 of Academy of the New Church's 29 points.

Penn-Jersey. Fordham recruit G'Mrice Davis finished with 35 points to go along with 10 rebounds and six steals to help Girard College cruise past visiting Penn Forge, 61-29. Davis was backed by Brianna Smith, who scored 13 points.
