Tues. Pa. boys’ roundup: Wooten boosts Imhotep

Senior guard Khyree Wooten dropped in a game-high 18 points on Tuesday afternoon and Imhotep Charter downed visiting Communications Tech, 57-51, to clinch first place in Public League basketball Division A.

Highly recruited junior Brandon Austin scored six points before injuring his finger in the second quarter.

The Panthers are hopeful he can return for their season finale this weekend, but if not they expect him back for the first round of the playoffs. The 6-foot-6 small forward is ranked Pennsylvania's No. 3 junior by ESPN.

Kevin Brown had 12 points for Communications Tech.

Also in the Public League, junior point guard Rysheed Jordan had seven assists, three steals, and one block as Vaux turned away visiting Prep Charter, 66-59. Senior guard James Cole scored 14 of his game-high 22 points in the first quarter.

Senior forward Savon Goodman scored all 45 of his points in the first three quarters and added 17 rebounds as Constitution rolled at Simon Gratz, 94-52. Senior guard Daiquan Walker chipped in with 11 assists and 23 points.

Maurice Watson scored 13 of his game-high 34 points in the fourth quarter as Boys' Latin eased at Math, Civics and Sciences, 75-69.

Nijay Kelly scored six points in overtime and host Fels downed Paul Robeson, 77-73. T.J. Scott tied the game for Fels on a fastbreak layup with 20 seconds left.

Keenon Johnson scored 11 of his game-high 21 points in the first quarter as New Media easily downed visiting GAMP, 53-47. Tobias Stokes led GAMP with 19 points, eight of which fell in the third quarter.

Larry Webster scored six of his game-high 28 points in the fourth quarter as Parkway West pulled away at Douglas, 66-60.

Malik Paul's three three-pointers helped Martin Luther King down host Espernaza, 47-46, and clinch Division C. Shaquille Bowman had 24 rebounds and 24 points for Esperanza.

Chris Lewis scored on a layup with 30 seconds left and Frankford downed host Southern, 62-60. Lewis finished with a team-high 18 points.

Senior guard Gary Gordon scored 12 points in the fourth quarter and Malik Noel added nine as Bartram downed visiting Philadelphia Electrical, 70-67. David George had seven blocks for the Chargers.

Senior guard Sean McLean knocked down five threes and Jihad Ward grabbed 16 rebounds as Bok downed Roxborough, 66-54. I-Meir Martin added a team-high 24 points. D.J. Alexander scored five points in OT and Lamberton pulled away at Mastbaum, 81-75. Anthony Fagan led the Blue Devils with six three-pointersand a game-high 23 points.

Dante Winfield knocked down three threes en route to a game-high 18 points as Palmer downed visiting Sankofa Freedom, 60-56. Ahzeem Wilcox chipped in with five boards and a pair of blocks.

George Ellis grabbed 12 rebounds, Sean Lloyd had 10, and Franklin Learning Center moved past Lincoln, 55-47. Deion Boyer chipped in with six assists and Troy Steed had a game-high 20 points.

Inter-Ac. Zach Thomas hit five three-pointers as Haverford School knocked off host Penn Charter, 61-52. Thomas scored half of his 22 points in the second quarter. John Moderski scored 13 of his 22 points for Penn Charter in the fourth quarter.

Bobby Keyes scored just four points, but he hit two crucial layups as visiting Chestnut Hill downed Episcopal Academy, 39-38, in double overtime.

Keyes tied the game in regulation after Malik Garner's technical free throw with 6.5 seconds left brought EA within two points. In the second overtime, Keyes' bucket put the visitors ahead for good. 

Friends Schools. Senior forward Chima Nwakpuda hit his 1,000th point in the fourth quarter as Shipley fell at Academy of the New Church, 75-54. The senior forward finished with 25 points and five rebounds. Dinjyl Walker led the hosts with a game-high 26 points, and the Lions forced 30 turnovers.

Senior Amile Jefferson scored 15 points of his career-high 39 points in the fourth quarter as Friends' Central rolled at Abington Friends, 68-49. Jordan Greene led Abington Friends with 19 points.

Villanova-bound Daniel Ochefu poured in 27 points and Westtown cruised at Germantown Friends, 71-53. Ray Leon knocked down six threes for the hosts.

Suburban One. Horace Spencer grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked six shots as William Tennent downed host Truman, 61-53. Jack Rauchat added 21 points and 14 rebounds.

Jiere Morrissey grabbed 11 rebounds and Anthony Durham dropped in 22 points as Abington downed visiting Council Rock South, 65-45.

Senior point guard Wes Brooks dropped in nine of his 19 points in the fourth quarter as North Penn rallied past Central Bucks South, 53-48.

Julian Hyden poured in 18 of his game-high 19 points in the second half as Bensalem topped visiting Neshaminy, 58-50.

Russhon Phillips scored eight of his 14 points in the fourth quarter as Plymouth Whitemarsh downed host Cheltenham, 55-50.

Jerrel Burke knocked down four three-pointers and Shawn Pepper had a pair as Pennsbury downed Council Rock North, 65-62. Burke scored eight of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter.

Bicentennial. Austin Stephens knocked down a pair of free throws and Delco Christian held on to top host Calvary Christian, 61-60. Josh Medvic hit a basket at the buzzer with his toe just-inside the three-point line as the hosts fell short.

Mike Hutson scored nine of his game-high 17 points in the first half and Phil-Mont Christian downed visiting Jenkintown, 46-43.

John Kane grabbed nine rebounds, Matt Burke dished out seven assists, and Devon held off visiting MaST Charter, 65-60. Steve Kohlbrenner chipped in with four threes and Kyle Kohler knocked down four late foul-shots to seal the win.

Del-Val. Raheem Harvey grabbed 13 rebounds, blocked six shots, and Raheem Harvey poured in 19 points as host Glen Mills downed Academy Park, 59-37.

Nonleague. Ansu Sarnor hit a free throw with 7 seconds left and Collegium Charter held on to top visiting Valley Forge, 63-61. Sarnor finished with a game-high 18 points.

Aondofa Anyam scored 10 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter as Church Farm slipped past host Lower Moreland, 45-44.

Sophomore Ben Rubin's pin in 4:53 at 195 pounds clinched a 39-37 win for host Chestnut Hill over Roman Catholic. Rubin improved to 17-7, with 12 wins by fall. The Blue Devils recorded six pins for the win.
