Fri. S.J. boys’ roundup: Pitman finally falls

With the bases loaded and one out in the seventh, Tom O'Donnell lined an 0-2 pitch to right field, driving in Brandon Blackiston with the game-ending run.

Pitman (9-1 overall, 6-1 division) led by 6-0 before the Lions (10-3, 6-2) rallied with a six-run fourth inning, including Kyle Greene's two-run double.

Also in the Tri-County, Gloucester Catholic's Casey Brown, who underwent Tommy John elbow surgery in 2010, got his first pitching win in three years as the Rams beat host Penns Grove, 12-2. Brown, a lefthander, struck out eight in five innings, and Elliott McCummings hit a home run.

Grand Slam Classic. Audubon outslugged visiting Clearview, 16-14, in a consolation game. The Green Wave plated four runs in the bottom of the seventh, including a game-winning homer by Keith Michalski (five RBIs).

Cape-Atlantic. Buena won the battle of National Conference division leaders, 2-1, at Sacred Heart, snapping the Lions' seven-game win streak. Jarred Corniell singled in the tie-breaking run in the sixth inning after the Lions' Bobby Gifford lined a two-out RBI single for Sacred Heart in the previous inning.

Two hits each by Steve Hartley (two RBIs) and Mike Tierney carried Holy Spirit past visiting Middle Township, 8-1.

Colonial. Tony Urban dominated West Deptford's 15-3 win at Overbrook by hitting home runs and matching teammate Tom Jakubowski with three RBIs each.

Olympic. Seneca spotted visiting Bishop Eustace a 7-3 lead through four innings before rallying to win, 11-7. Reliever Chris DelleMonache allowed one hit over four innings, and Roger Hoffmann (five RBIs), Ryan Williams, and Cam Bahr homered.

Burlington County. Pete Perez knocked in four runs in support of winning pitcher Anthony Coniglio as Burlington City defeated host Westampton Tech, 9-4.

Nonleague. Sterling's C.J. Hertz outdueled Andrew Ordille of visiting St. Joseph for a 2-1 win as each pitcher threw a complete game.

Tennis

Holmdel swept Moorestown, 5-0, in the rain-delayed championship match of the Moorestown Classic. The Quakers' (10-5) Derek Liu at first singles, and Tyler Blessing and Matt Holzinger at first doubles each extended their matches to three sets.

Lacrosse

Clearview (2-7) built a 7-4 lead through three quarters and held on to upset host Lenape, 7-6, avenging an earlier 17-7 loss to the Indians (5-3), ranked No. 10 in South Jersey by The Inquirer. Clearview's Joe Donnian scored four goals and goalie Kyle Melnick made 11 saves.

Rancocas Valley's Connor Ryan posted his 100th career point in a two-goal, three-assist effort that aided a 15-1 win over visiting Nottingham.

Sterling Long had five goals and four assists, Joel McGowan added four goals and three assists, and each player reached 28 goals for the season while leading Bishop Eustace past visiting Camden Catholic, 21-10.

Gloucester Catholic goalie Shane Brophy made 18 saves, and Kevin Kohout and Nick Lanciano had three goals each in a 12-5 win against visiting Holy Cross. Kohout has 22 goals this spring.
