TED SILARY ON CITY LEAGUES
Frankford at Germantown
Public AAAA Quarterfinal
Tonight, 6 o'clock
Thanks in part to the emergence of junior halfback Jeffione Thomas, Frankford has rebounded nicely after getting off to its worst start (1-5) since 1929. Germantown is a dangerous foe thanks to pass-happy QB Ramadan Abdullah and main targets John Ellis and Dominique Twiggs.
Haverford School at Malvern Prep
Inter-Ac League
Today, 3:15
This will determine which school can challenge favored Chestnut Hill for the title. Quick-footed lacrosse stars Carl Walrath (HS) and Bobby Hill (MP) are their teams' main runners. HS also features Temple-bound FB/LB Wyatt Benson.
Frankford at Germantown
Catholic AAA
Tomorrow, 1 o'clock, at Wissahickon
The winner gets first place and the top seed in the upcoming playoffs. NC's Eugene Byrd last week broke the school record for rushing yards with 273. Real estate against Wood's punishing defense will be much tougher to garner.
MICHAEL RADANO ON SOUTH JERSEY
Cinnaminson at Camden Catholic
Tonight, 7 o'clock
This isn't about personal rivalries - Cinnaminson coach Mario Patrizi is an Irish alum - or even about the Burlco/Olympic National Division in which both teams are chasing Bishop Eustace. Instead, this is about Camden Catholic qualifying for the state tournament, which is of great concern since the Irish are ninth out of 10 teams vying for eight Non-Public Group3 spots.
Seneca at Shawnee
Tonight, 7 o'clock
Shawnee has come on strong since an early pair of losses to No.3 Cherokee and Winslow Township. No one would like to derail the Renegades more than sister school Seneca, with both teams eying potential playoff berths.
Winslow Twp. at Timber Creek
Tonight, 7 o'clock
Even with a hard-fought win over Pemberton on Saturday, Timber Creek is still looking to shake off a loss to Shawnee 2 weeks ago. Winslow will challenge the Chargers at the skill positions and this has the chance of being a high-scoring affair.
JOSEPH SANTOLIQUITO ON DELAWARE COUNTY
Glen Mills at Academy Park
Tonight, 7 o'clock
This crucial Del-Val game could determine the playoff fate of both teams. Academy Park is 6-2, but has lost two of three, including a 28-0 setback to Chester last week. Glen Mills is looking for its fourth straight victory, and needs to win to keep alive its faint ClassAAAA playoff hopes.
Garnet Valley at Ridley
Tonight, 7 o'clock
This game will determine the Central League championship, between 8-0 Ridley and 7-1 Garnet Valley, the defending league champion. Garnet Valley scored 42 in its victory over Radnor last week, while the Green Raiders scored 40 in their victory over Springfield. A crowd of close to 7,000 is expected for the game.
