Johnson in field for Aronimink

Dustin Johnson, who challenged to win his first major in the U.S. Open before falling in the final round at Pebble Beach, is among the players who have committed to the AT&T National next week at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square.

On Friday, the PGA Tour released the final list of the field of 120 for the event, which begins Thursday. Among them are 11 major champions, including Tiger Woods, the world's No. 1 player, and six competitors who have won tour events in 2010.

Johnson, 26, took a 3-stroke lead into the final 18 holes of last week's Open, but a triple bogey and double bogey on the second and third holes sent his game spinning downward; he finished with an 82.

Woods, the defending champion of this tournament, will be playing for just the sixth time in 2010. He is coming off a tie for fourth place in the Open, although he failed to mount much of a charge in the final round.

Jim Furyk, who was born in West Chester and went to high school in the Lancaster area, is the year's only two-time winner in this event.

Other 2010 winners in the field are Johnson, Hunter Mahan, Ben Crane, and Jason Day.

Y.E. Yang, the reigning PGA champion, heads the list of former major champions, joining Woods, Furyk, Davis Love III, Lucas Glover, Vijay Singh, David Toms, Shaun Micheel, Justin Leonard, Lee Janzen, and Steve Elkington.

Rocco Mediate, who played a lot in Pennsylvania during his amateur days, received one of the eight sponsor's exemptions issued by tournament officials.
