We're guessing that new Flyers defenseman Luke Schenn — brother of Flyers center Brayden Schenn — will become a fan favorite within minutes of the first shift he takes on the Wells Fargo Center ice.

Not only did he lead all NHL defensemen in hits last season, he has done so in each of the last two seasons. He is the only player to lead defensemen in that category twice in the seven years the league has been tracking it.

Schenn, who is entering his fifth season after four years with the Toronto Maple Leafs, averaged a hit every seven minutes or so over his first three seasons. He jacked that up last year, clanging an opponent once for every 4:41 of his on-ice time.
