DURING A busy few days of work, the Flyers somehow found time to agree to a 2-year contract extension with fourth-line center Pierre-Edouard Bellemare.

Bellemare, 29, is 62 games into his NHL career after making the jump from the Swedish Hockey League. He has collected four goals and four assists, but is also on the Flyers' top penalty-killing unit of late.

Bellemare will earn $700,000 next season and $725,000 in 2016-17. It is a small raise from the $600,000 he's earning this season and provides 2 years of stability.

He is just the seventh player born and raised in France to ever make it to the NHL.

"He's been a good player for us,'' general manager Ron Hextall said. "He's a smart player. He works hard. He's becoming a good penalty killer. He's kind of taken the coaches' direction on what we want him to do and he's been a real good role player.''
