Flyers-Hurricanes postponed until Wednesday

The Flyers' home game against Carolina on Tuesday was postponed by a winter snowstorm and rescheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Fans who had tickets to Tuesday's game can use them Wednesday. The game will be televised by the Comcast Network and broadcast on WMMR-FM (93.3).

Winger Jake Voracek, who injured his left hand in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Islanders, was going to be a game-time decision Tuesday. The same will apply Wednesday.

Earlier this season, the Flyers (25-19-6) lost a pair of 2-1 decisions in Carolina (20-19-9), with the second defeat in overtime. The first loss, on Oct. 6, was the last game for Peter Laviolette as the Flyers' coach.

Steve Mason, who has 4.55 goals-against average in his last four starts, is expected to get the nod for the Flyers Wednesday. On Thursday, the Flyers travel to Columbus to face Mason's former team.

Mason is 5-1-1 with a 1.85 goals-against average in his career against Carolina, while Ray Emery is 5-0 with a 0.73 GAA and two shutouts against the Hurricanes.

Carolina, which had a game in Buffalo postponed last month because of hazardous conditions, had been scheduled to host Ottawa on Friday, but the game has been moved to Saturday so the Hurricanes won't be playing on three consecutive days. - Sam Carchidi
