As part of a farewell tribute to the Spectrum, the Flyers have invited all their past captains to that game, including Lindros, who had a stormy relationship with the team.

Yesterday, the club issued a statement from Lindros, who clarified why he won't be there with the other captains.

"I'm unfortunately unable to attend the ceremony at the Spectrum because I will be attending a memorial service for my close friend's mother who recently passed away," he said. "The Spectrum holds many special memories for me, and I always enjoyed playing there in front of the great Flyers fans."

In addition to the Sept. 27 game, the Flyers will play an exhibition game against their AHL affiliate, the Phantoms, on Oct. 7 at the Spectrum. The Flyers who played on the club's two Stanley Cup champions (1973-74 and 1974-75) have been invited to that game.

This is the final season of the Spectrum, which is now the Phantoms' home.
