Guerin, Comrie sign with Islanders

The New York Islanders finally found free agents willing to join them, signing All-Star forward Bill Guerin to a 2-year contract and center Mike Comrie to a 1-year deal yesterday.

The New York Islanders finally found free agents willing to join them, signing All-Star forward Bill Guerin to a 2-year contract and center Mike Comrie to a 1-year deal yesterday.

Guerin, a four-time All-Star, scored 36 goals last season splitting time with St. Louis and San Jose. The team suddenly is rebuilding after losing forwards Ryan Smyth, Jason Blake, Richard Zednik, Viktor Kozlov and defenseman Tom Poti since the free-agent signing period began Sunday.

Comrie, a former Flyer, had 20 goals and 25 assists in 65 games with Ottawa.
