LANDOVER, Md. — Eagles cornerback Ronald Darby was carted off the field in the second of Sunday's season opener against the Washington Redskins with a right ankle injury. He will not return.

Darby, who was acquired this summer to be the Eagles' No. 1 cornerback, chased Redskins tight end Jordan Reed and fell to the ground, grabbing his right ankle. The non-contact injury was gruesome to watch on the television replay. It happened right next to the Eagles sideline, and Eagles players immediately went down on one knee while trainers evaluated Darby.

Patrick Robinson took Darby's spot in the injury.

More information to come.
