Live blog: Philadelphia Eagles-Green Bay Packers preseason opener

Carson Wentz and Derek Barnett were excellent. The rest, well, not so much.

And so, it begins. The NFL is a league where you really can't tell anymore who fits where in the pecking order, not as you could in the old days. And the truth is, the real answers don't come until after Thanksgiving. So in the here and now, there are a couple of obviously excellent teams, and couple of clear dogs, and everybody else is in the middle, a bounce here or a big injury at the wrong time there from either staying on the tightrope or falling off.

The Eagles are one of those kinds of teams, one of the everybody else's. And we get our first look tonight against the Green Bay Packers.

No conclusions to be drawn, then.
