Eagles cornerback Sidney Jones to practice this week

Sidney Jones will practice this week for the first time in an Eagles uniform, a major step in the rookie cornerback's recovery from a torn Achilles tendon suffered during the University of Washington's pro day in March.

Jones, the Eagles' second-round pick, has been on the non-football injury list all season and has not been able to practice with the team. The Eagles now have a 21-day window to see Jones practice before determining whether to activate him to the 53-man roster or place him on injured reserve.

This move does not necessarily mean the Eagles plan on using Jones this season. The Eagles have not been able to see Jones play football since they drafted him, so this gives them that opportunity during the next three weeks. They can make a decision by the first week of the postseason.

"We're just to the point of [wanting] to see him out there running around, doing football activities outside of the normal workouts that he's been doing," coach Doug Pederson said. "Just changing direction and doing more football work this week."

The Eagles drafted Jones with the understanding that he could miss this season. He was considered a first-round talent before the injury, and the pick was made with the team's long-term vision in mind. They've taken strides to make Jones feel a part of the team all season, such as having Jones attend every practice and bringing him to all road games.

"Hasn't missed one meeting. Hasn't missed a practice," defensive backs coach Cory Undlin said in November. "He's out there every single day. He's right next to us. He gets every call in every period. I call on him in the meetings as if he was playing. He knows the defense."

Eagles guard Stefen Wisniewski left Sunday's win over the Los Angeles Rams with an ankle injury and coach Doug Pederson said Wisniewski is day to day. He was replaced by Chance Warmack and Isaac Seumalo after 31 offensive plays on Sunday.

"He'll be fine," Pederson said. "I expect him to probably do some walk-through things and individual [work], potentially, on Wednesday."
