Aaron Rodgers is not expected to play in Thursday's Eagles-Packers preseason opener, but Carson Wentz will.

Eagles coach Doug Pederson said the team has not yet settled on how long the starters will play against the Packers and which players will sit, but he did confirm Wentz will play.

"For sure, he's going to start the game," Pederson said.

Whether he passes to new top target Alshon Jeffery remains to be seen. Pederson said he has not decided whether Jeffery will play. He said Jeffery is healthy enough to play — Jeffery practiced Tuesday, but did not take part in team drills — but Pederson will use his discretion when determining whether to put Jeffery on the field.

"Again, I'm not concerned — we play Washington in a few weeks, and that's the bottom line," Pederson said.

Jeffery said that he "feels good," and added that the media are more concerned than he is over how much he's playing. But fans are eager to see Jeffery play. Will that come Thursday?

"We'll see," he said.
