Vegas Vic: Eagles giving too many points to the Broncos

Quick hit: The Eagles and Chiefs are the only two teams that have covered six of their first eight games. Denver has lost its last three overall and against the spread, and just switched quarterbacks.

Broncos vs. spread: 2-4-1

Eagles vs. spread: 6-2

Vegas Vic's take: Please don't get nervous. Double V is expecting the gorgeous Eagles' winning streak to hit seven, but it might be a little tighter than most expect. Of course the only number that matters to me is the plus 7.5. And speaking of gorgeous winning streaks, Vic is on a 4-0 spread run with the Birds, with a 6-2 mark picking the hometown heroes' games since opening week. Denver is replacing Trevor Siemian with Brock Osweiler, and that's a huge plus. Last week, Siemian was pathetic, hitting on only 5 of 14 for 56 yards with two interceptions. The Broncs had five turnovers in the game, and still lost by only 10. Now Osweiler gets the keys and he has had some success as a starter, with a 13-8 record. Cashed a sweet ticket on the under last week as well, and might go low once again. You have two sturdy defenses, with the Eagles giving up 19.5 points per game, and the Broncos at 21.0 ppg. Birds roll into the bye at 8-1, but only by a fiver, 22-17.

Quick hit: The Giants are threatening to go 1-7 for the first time since 1980. During that same 1980 season, Archie Manning went 1-15 for the Saints as his wife Olivia was pregnant with Eli Manning, the current Giants quarterback.

Rams vs. spread: 4-3

Giants vs. spread: 3-4

Vegas Vic's take: Perfection on the road this season for Los Angeles, with a pristine 4-0 straight up record and a 3-1 record against the spread. The NYG are an absolute mess and do not deserve our attention or our money.

Quick hit: After he fumbled twice last week, Saints running back Mark Ingram told reporters that he "sucked" 18 times, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Buccaneers vs. spread: 1-5-1

Saints vs. spread: 5-2

Vegas Vic's take: Wow! What a shame! This Best Bet spot was gonna be reserved for the Texans but since Houston QB Deshaun Watson tore his ACL and is gonna be out for the rest of the season, that has gone by the wayside. So, it's time to move on, and we're moving to Louisiana. Like everything New Orleans is doing this season. The 5-2 record, the improved defense and of course, Drew Brees. However — and you know there's always a however — the Saints are horrible against the spread as a favorite of six points or more. How horrible? They have covered only one of the last 11 (9%). And with Tampa's passing attack (295 yards per game) second in the NFL to the Patriots (302 ypg), gotta have a little taste of the pirate crew from Florida. This isn't really a pick up to the normal Best Bet criteria, but in a week with six teams on bye and lots of moving parts, it will have to do.

Quick hit: Jacksonville has alternated covering and not covering each week this season. In their most recent game, they drilled the Colts 27-0 to easily cover a 3-point spread. The Jags had a bye last week.

Bengals vs. spread: 3-4

Jaguars vs. spread: 4-3

Vegas Vic's take: When we do our weekly research, we usually find some amazing nuggets. Here's one that most people outside of Florida probably don't know about: Jacksonville leads the NFL in sacks with 33. Next up you have the Panthers with 27 and the Chargers with 26. However, both Carolina and San Diego — oops! Los Angeles — have played eight games while Jax has played only seven. Boom!

Quick hit: The over/under total hasn't been this low in this series since a 2010 game was 41. Naturally, Atlanta won that game 31-10.

Falcons vs. spread: 2-5

Panthers vs. spread: 4-3-1

Vegas Vic's take: Don't find Carolina as a dog too often, maybe because the Panthers have covered 10 of the last 12.

Quick hit: Even LeBron James was upset at Deshaun Watson's injury. Best of luck to Houston quarterback and Cardinal O'Hara product Tom Savage, who will make his fourth career start.

Colts vs. spread: 4-4

Texans vs. spread: 5-2

Vegas Vic's take: This becomes pretty simple . . . No Deshaun Watson means the lightest of all picks.

Quick hit: The Ravens last four games have gone over, not by a substantial amount, but enough to cash the ticket.

Ravens vs. spread: 4-4

Titans vs. spread: 3-4

Vegas Vic's take: After last week's 40-0 blowout against the Dolphins, Baltimore should roll into the bye week with an easy W.

Quick hit: The Cardinals' 1-6 record against the spread is the worst in football.

Cardinals vs. spread: 1-6

49ers vs. spread: 4-4

Vegas Vic's take: Double V is probably the only one out here in Vegas that's gonna show any love for the 0-8 San Francisco bunch. The Niners have covered seven of the last 10, so my heart — and my wallet — is on San Fran.

Quick hit: Washington has failed to cover its last four games and all four have gone over.

Redskins vs. spread: 2-5

Seahawks vs. spread: 3-4

Vegas Vic's take: Seattle's D is a proud bunch, which is why the 'Hawks are 4-0, straight up and vs. the spread, after giving up 30 or more points.

Quick hit: The Chiefs run defense has been leaking oil lately. Le'Veon Bell gashed them for 179 yards in Week 6 and the Broncos RBs combined to carve out 157 yards last week.

Chiefs vs. spread: 6-2

Cowboys vs. spread: 4-3

Vegas Vic's take: Liking Dallas a little more now that Ezekiel Elliott's suspension is back in limbo. But we'll still keep it real light.

Quick hit: After trading Jay Ajayi, the Dolphins will now go with a backfield by committee consisting of Kenyan Drake, Damien Williams and Larry Csonka. Ok, maybe not Zonk. But fantasy leaguers are keeping an eye on Drake.

Raiders vs. spread: 3-5

Dolphins vs. spread: 3-3-1

Vegas Vic's take: This is all about travel plans. Last season, Oakland had a two-game road trip to Florida, hitting Jacksonville and Tampa Bay. The Silver & Black decided to stay in the Sunshine State for the duration instead of running back and forth to the West Coast. That resulted in a 30-24 win at Tampa in the second game of the trip. Same deal this time. Went from Buffalo last week right to Florida, and the end result in Miami will be another win for Oakland.

Quick hit: Detroit has lost four of five and a defeat here — against their archrivals playing with a second-string quarterback — won't be good for coach Jim Caldwell.

Lions vs. spread: 3-4

Packers vs. spread: 3-4

Vegas Vic's take:If any team is ever due, it's Detroit. The Lions have posted one win in the last 26 trips to Green Bay. It was an 18-16 W back in 2015, and Aaron Rodgers was under center. Of course, Mr. Discount Double Check will not be performing any magic this week, so Brett Hundley (12 of 25 for 87 yards and a pick) has to steer the boat. If Matthew Stafford, the highest paid QB in the NFL, can't get the best of Hundley and the Pack, he better give back a few bucks.

Jets 34, Bills 21: New York's defense sacked Tyrod Taylor seven times in the rout.
