Game 1 at Redskins

WIN

Do I jinx the Eagles by predicting a victory? They've lost five in a row to Washington and  haven't beaten the Redskins since Sept. 21, 2014, when Nick Foles was quarterbacking. My theory on streaks, not terribly profound: The longer they go, the closer they are to ending.

Game 2 at Chiefs

LOSS

Andy Reid has 10 days to prepare after a season-opening visit to the Patriots. K.C.  is 22-10 at home in the regular season under Andy.

Game 3 vs. Giants

WIN

If Eli Manning has a bounce-back year in him, the Giants ought to be really good. But Eli is 36, and not everybody fools the calendar as well as Tom Brady.

Game 4 at Chargers

WIN

This is the first of three West Coast games for the Eagles, against an opponent they rarely see. No feel for this at all.

Game 5 vs. Arizona

WIN

Just finished reading Bruce Arians' book. He's a smart, visceral leader who really connects with quarterbacks. But with aging stars, is his team in decline?

Game 6 at Carolina

LOSS

Both teams are playing on four days' rest, the Panthers after visiting the Lions. The Eagles will be looking toward the 11-day break.

Game 7 vs. Redskins

LOSS

I predicted an Eagles win in the opener.  Washington has kind of a tough early schedule and might really need this one.

Game 8 vs. 49ers

WIN

This will be the third week in a row against an NFC East team for the Niners. I don't think they'll be awful this year, but doubt they'll be real good. And they're traveling East, often a problem for West Coast teams.

Game 9 vs. Broncos

LOSS

The triumphant return of Allen Barbre? Carson Wentz gets tested against what should be an elite defense.

Game 10  at Cowboys

LOSS

The Eagles are coming off their bye. The Cowboys are coming off Chiefs and Falcons, two tough games. Hard to predict how all that will work.

Game 11 vs. Bears

WIN

Alshon Jeffery's revenge. Eager to see Mitchell Trubisky, but don't think the Bears are going to be real good.

Game 12 at Seahawks

LOSS

Two years in a row to the toughest road venue in the league? They have a Starbucks counter in the press box, though, so I'm good.

Game 13 at Rams

WIN

The Eagles will spend the week in Southern California. Difficult to say how that will play out, but this ought to be a win.

Game 14 at Giants

WIN

The Eagles haven't lost to the Giants here since Andy Reid's last game, on a bone-chilling day in 2012. I know what I said earlier about streaks, but what the heck.

Game 15 vs. Raiders

LOSS

Monday night game, so hard to predict what will be hanging in the balance. I have the Eagles at 8-6 going into this one. Will that mean they have no hope for the playoffs, or will they still be in the hunt? The Raiders are supposed to be really good. But coming East?

Game 16 vs. Dallas

WIN

I'm going to go ahead and assume that like last season, the Cowboys will have locked up the NFC East going into this one, and maybe the Eagles will still have a sliver of playoff hope to play for.

9-7
