Report: New York Jets a 'legitimate possible landing spot' for Eagles' Michael Vick

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported on Monday that based on conversations he's had, it appears the Jets are a "legitimate' landing spot" for Eagles quarterback Michael Vick.

Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported on Monday that based on conversations he's had, it appears the Jets are a "legitimate" landing spot for Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, who will become a free agent on March 11.

Based on conversations this week, it's clear the #Jets are viewed as a legitimate possible landing spot for #Eagles QB Michael Vick.

Vick, who previously said this offseason that he wishes to remain a starter in the NFL, started five games for the Eagles in Chip Kelly's 2013 rookie season before injury and a record-breaking performance from then-backup Nick Foles basically ended his season.

So why the Jets? Rapoport points out two very sensible reasons.

First, Marty Mornhinweg, formerly of the Eagles, is the Jets offensive coordinator. Second, and more importantly, is that if Mornhinweg has respect for Vick, there is no reason he wouldn't see the signing, at the very least, as a way to help young QB Geno Smith progress.

The Jets, who reportedly showed interest in Vick following the 2012 season, seem to make at least some sense, although he would likely be the backup, something he may not be all that interested in doing.

Free agency is still a few weeks away, but the rumor mill will be working overtime once the Scouting Combine wraps up in Indianapolis.
