Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Hugh Douglas was arrested on assault charges Tuesday, according to a report.

Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Hugh Douglas was arrested on assault charges Tuesday, according to WFSB in Hartford, Conn.

Douglas allegedly attacked a woman at a hotel in downtown Hartford. He was arraigned on Tuesday in Hartford Superior Court, and was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree strangulation. Douglas' next court appearance will be on October 21.

More from the report:

"According to court documents, Douglas "grabbed her by the neck" and "slammed her into the walls several times." The court papers go on to say that Douglas told investigators the victim's injuries happened during rough sex."

Douglas played 10 seasons in the NFL, including six years with the Eagles. Douglas also played with the New York Jets and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He last played in 2004.

This comes on the heels of Douglas losing his job with ESPN in August, after he shouted racial slurs at a colleague. ESPN fired Douglas for his actions.
