Pack Eyeing Westy?

Was just thinking today that we really ought to hear soon about somebody, somewhere, being interested in adding Brian Westbrook, who has been on the market a while now. No sooner thought than blogged, by Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Silverstein writes that the Packers are thinking of bringing in Westbrook, who of course flourished here in a very similar offense. One would think Packers coach Mike McCarthy would be able to get a good sense of what Westbrook can and can't do at this stage of his career from Green Bay alum Andy Reid.
Certainly, Westbrook could be effective in a limited role, especially in a West Coast attack. The Packers play on natural grass, which is a must for Westbrook -- his chronic bad left knee swelled up whenever he practiced or played on turf. This sounds like something that ought to work out.

Checked in today with Kristen Kuliga, agent for Sav Rocca, and Drew Rosenhaus, agent for Max Jean-Gilles, on why their clients are the only 2 Eagles restricted free agents who haven't signed their one-year tender offers. Kuliga said it's just a matter of Rocca getting back from Australia, he'll sign when he does. (Guess they don't have fax machines down under.) Rosenhaus did not reply. Hard to see Max, who is lucky to be in the league, playing RFA hardball, though.

I wish Westbrook the best. Green Bay would be a great place for him. Ryan Grant is an okay receiver out of the backfield, so Westbrook would be an ideal third down back. PhillyHouse JayDuce
Good luck is right... I think he should just stay at his horse farm in Maryland... phillyinATL
I doubt it's gonna happen because of the concussions. Westbrook is not worth the risk anymore. He should have retired with the Eagles. soulman386- With 8+ months of no contact, Westy's brain should be back 100%. As a personnel person, I'd be more worried about his knees for durability. BWest would be a great addition as a situational player. Dual back, dual WR set- bring B in and he'll probably get attention, maybe leaving someone else on loose coverage, or if he's not covered, let him wiggle free. It seems he knows the dangers of coming back, and if his docs say stay away, I hope he does. If they say he's good to go, I'd love to see him for another year. verve
My guess on MJG? I think he wants to remain an Eagle for this season. By waiting until after the draft to sign his tender, he makes it less likely that he will be dealt this season. Dutch1
So we may get to play against Westbrook and McNabb? Ouch...could bite us in the rear. EaglesBleedMoney

Eagles need to keep Vick. If Kolb doesn't work out, the fans will be screaming for Vick. I hope Vick sees this. I don't know what the value of Vick is among the other teams in the league. mmagunsday
Good luck 36. Richard Saunders- MJG is an alright back up, worthy of a 1 year tender. Westbrook would fit in under the right system for third down use. remember that he is still a great blocker. Eagles need to draft a qb, but not this year. start Kolb, use vick in the wildcat and sign Garcia just in case vick gets murdered running goal line formations. azguz
Isn't there a "deadline" for RFAs to sign their tenders on April 15th? What does that deadline mean, exactly? knighn
It is my prayer that Westy will see the light and retire for his own well being. I think he is coach material and that could be his next step. obergruber
