LeSean McCoy looking for improvements catching out of backfield

Entering the season, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy expressed a specific desire to improve as a receiver out of the backfield. He has 18 receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown this season, a collection of statistics that don't suggest significant improvement.

This is more the byproduct of the offense's struggles to gain a rhythm and the lack of total plays, but it's something to watch as the season progresses.

"Still need improvement to be a better receiver out of the backfield," McCoy said. "It's a working process. It's a long season. I think we're getting me involved in the passing game. Last week, we just had a touchdown. We got the matchup we wanted, I went around the guy."

McCoy identified the screen game as an area for growth.

Mornhinweg discuses no-huddle

Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg agrees with the notion that quarterback Michael Vick appears more comfortable when the Eagles play with a no-huddle offense. They have gone into the no-huddle at different points in the season, and Vick plays better than when operating at a slower pace.

"We've been doing quite a little bit of it," Mornhinweg said. "We've been doing two-minute tempo, as well as some very quick muddle huddle. Typically when you do that, you get more plays and that plays to us and our skill guys in these types of things."

All 53 players on the Eagles' active roster had full participation in practice for the second consecutive day. …Former Eagles running back Ricky Watters will serve as this week's honorary captain. Watters, who played for the Eagles from 1995 to 1997, averaged 1,704 yards from scrimmage during his three seasons with the Eagles and twice represented Philadelphia in the Pro Bowl.
