Fantasy rankings for the Eagles
Reality has been painful for the Eagles the last two days, so there's no better time to turn our attention to fantasy. Fantasy football, that is.
Several of the top fantasy football sites have updated their rankings in the last few days, and even though it's still early for most drafts, it's intriguing to see where the Eagles' top skill-position players rank.
It's also a little surprising, considering most sites list just two Eagles among the top 50 picks.
ESPN's Matthew Berry has LeSean McCoy fifth overall and Michael Vick 18th, with Jeremy Maclin the next Bird at 55. DeSean Jackson is 78, which seems absurdly low.
The folks at FoxSports.com have McCoy fourth and Vick 26th, with Maclin 58 and Jackson 71.
The NFL.com's Top 200 also ranks McCoy fourth, but drops Vick much lower (41st) and Maclin and Jackson at 48th and 68th, respectively.
And finally, Eric Mack's initial Top 200 for Sports Illustrated has McCoy the highest compared to the other sites, at No. 2 overall. The rest of the Eagles' top skill-position players get lumped together outside of the top 50, however: Vick (52), Maclin (53), and Jackson (54).
Granted, these rankings are for fantasy drafts and fantasy scoring, and don't necessarily indicate a player's true rankings. But it's hard to see how these sites could rank Jackson so low across the board.
He's the 27th wide receiver on ESPN's site, 26th on Fox and the NFL sites, and 21st on Sports Illustrated's.
Looks to me like some fantasy experts need a reality check.
I plan on Drafting All 4. I have the 1st pick. going homer.
McCoy 1st Vick 2nd, Maclin 3rd then Desean 4th.
dmanphilly- McCoy should be the highest ranked Eagles' player. That's pretty much a no-brainer. As a side note, I'd swear, with all the media coverage of Andy Reid's son's death, you would have thought the Pope died. It's tragic, but come on. I could understand if it was Reid himself that passed away. The truth of the matter is that the fans have no connection to the son and the media is forcing this story down our throats. And no one can even comment on any of the articles that are on this site in regards to the story.
"Roy" - comments are probably disabled to keep comments like yours out. It is a tragedy when someone loses a child. It is especially tragic when it had seemed like Garrett had turned his troubled life around and was going the right way. While the fans had no connection with Garrett, it quite obvious that many on the team had a connection to him, and of course, many have a connection to Andy as well. It is also obvious that this has had a tremendous impact on the team... and when you're a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, you want to know about the things that impact the team. The question to come is: will the distraction weaken the team or will the loss strengthen to resolve of the team? Even if the resolved is strengthened, is the team good enough? We'll find out. knighn
@ROY. Why don't you go to the ESPN site. You'll find a lot of company there with guys similar to you. People always looking for someone to bash in hopes of feeling better about themselves, but not quite intelligent enough to realize that that is exactly the kind of behavior which is lowering their self-esteem. goeagles87
