Eagles sign defensive tackle Landon Cohen, cut linebacker Monte Simmons

The Eagles signed defensive tackle Landon Cohen and released linebacker Monte Simmons, the team announced Thursday.

Cohen, who was last in Arizona with the Cardinals, will play in tonight's preseason game against the New York Jets. The 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive tackle was drafted out of the University of Ohio by the Lions in the seventh round of the 2008 draft.

Cohen, 26, played two seasons in Detroit -- recording 25 tackles in 20 games -- and then bounced around the NFL from Jacksonville to New England to Seattle and back to the Patriots. He play in the final two games of the 2010 season for the Patriots. He was cut the following September, brougt back briefly, and then released again.

Cohen was in camp with the Cardinals and was released earlier this week.
