Birds sign former 2nd round pick Brown, bring back Lindley

Even with their attention focused on finding Andy Reid's successor, the Eagles made two personnel moves on Wednesday, signing defensive end Everette Brown and bringing back cornerback Trevard Lindley.

Brown, 25, is a former second round pick of the Carolina Panthers (43rd overall) in 2009. He spent this season with Detroit but did appear in a game. Brown, considered a a draft bust by many, has played just 22 snaps over the last 2 seasons, all of them coming with San Diego in 2011.

Brown, a Florida State product, made 3 starts with the Panthers after being drafted and collected a total of 6 sacks over parts of 2 seasons. He was projected as a first round pick in 2009 but his stock dropped quickly with questions about his size. His best pro season was his rookie year, when he made 15 solo tackles and forced 2 fumbles.

Brown posted a picture on Twitter on Wednesday, saying he was "Starting the New Year off right. Glad to be a Philadelphia Eagle. Let me fly!"

Lindley, 26, was brought back almost a year to the day (Jan. 2, 2012) that he signed a deal with the Eagles last time. He was cut on Sept. 1, 2012 to make room for Nate Menkin. Lindley appeared in 11 games with the Eagles in 2010, making one interception.

Both Brown and Lindley will be given a chance to impress the Eagles' new coaching staff - whoever is at the helm - in offseason workouts.
