Paul Domowitch's Eagles Report Card

RUSHING OFFENSE Ryan Mathews was shelved in favor of 33-year-old Darren Sproles, whose speed and elusiveness gave the Cowboys' defense problems.

RUSHING OFFENSE

Ryan Mathews was shelved in favor of 33-year-old Darren Sproles, whose speed and elusiveness gave the Cowboys' defense problems.

GRADE: B+

PASSING OFFENSE

Carson Wentz did a lot of dinking-and-dunking. Completed 17 of 21 passes in the first half, but averaged less than five yards per attempt. His receivers dropped too many passes.

GRADE: C

RUN DEFENSE

Ezekiel Elliott had rushed for 130-plus yards in his previous four games. The Eagles kept him under 80 for most of the game, but gave up some key runs, including a 7-yard touchdown, to quarterback Dak Prescott.

GRADE: B+

PASS DEFENSE

Eagles held Dak Prescott to five completions in 13 first-half attempts, and linebacker Jordan Hicks killed a potential scoring drive with an end-zone interception. Nolan Carroll gave up a game-tying, 22-yard touchdown pass to Dez Bryant late in the fourth quarter.

GRADE: B

SPECIAL TEAMS

Caleb Sturgis nailed a 55-yard field goal just before the end of the first half to put the Eagles up 13-10. Josh Huff had a 63-yard kickoff return. But the Eagles punt coverage unit got snookered on a fake punt in the third quarter and Donnie Jones had a poor punt late in the fourth quarter.

GRADE: B

OVERALL

The Eagles had this game in their grasp and let it slip away. Drops. A special teams slip up. A negative play that cost them a chance at a fourth-quarter field goal opportunity. But they took a good team into overtime on the road. They held Ezekiel Elliott under 100 yards.

GRADE: B -
