NICK FOLES in a Cowboys uniform?

Apparently, it's a possibility.

On Wednesday, the Cowboys posted on their website that the former Eagles quarterback is among several options to replace backup Kellen Moore, who broke his right fibula in practice on Tuesday and is expected to miss three to four months.

Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones said he has had discussions with Foles' agent, David Dunn.

The Eagles traded Foles and draft picks to the Rams for Sam Bradford in March 2015. The Rams granted his request to be released on July 24.

"(Foles has) had success against us for the Eagles, so we've seen him a lot," Jones said on the website. "He's got a big arm. Obviously, when you have the great offensive line we have and we think we're going to have a very solid running game, the thing you worry about is people trying to suffocate you. He's proven he can get the ball down the field, so he's got a lot of attributes that could fit well for us."

According to ESPN, Minnesota also is interested in Foles. Pat Shurmur, the Vikings' tight ends coach, was the Eagles' offensive coordinator when Foles played in Philly.

NFL.com reported that the Cowboys also are considering trading for Cleveland's Josh McCown or Tampa Bay's Mike Glennon. Free agents Jimmy Clausen, Michael Vick and and Matt Flynn also have been mentioned.

The Cowboys' depth chart lists Jameill Showers, in his second-year out of Texas-El Paso, as the third string quarterback and rookie Dak Prescott, a fourth-round draft pick out of Mississippi State, in the fourth slot.

"We have to un-turn every stone," Jones said. "We have teams that are obviously calling to let us know that they may have a guy, somebody available, and we have to uncover that. The No. 1 priority is to get it right. Expeditiously is No. 2. We want to get a guy in here sooner rather than later. I'm not one of those guys, "Are you close? Will it get done by the end of the day?' We want to get it done as soon as we possibly can, whether that's today, tomorrow or whenever it needs to get done."
