Eagles will interview Shurmur, Gase for coaching job

The Eagles will interview interim coach Pat Shurmur for their head coaching vacancy over the next few days, an NFL source said Sunday night.

The Eagles will interview interim coach Pat Shurmur for their head coaching vacancy over the next few days, an NFL source said Sunday night.

ESPN was first with the report. The network also reported that Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase would interview with the Eagles this week.

Shurmur and Gase's candidacies don't come as much of a surprise. Shurmur stepped in for the fired Chip Kelly and won the Eagles' season finale over the New York Giants, 35-30, on Sunday.

Gase has been credited with reviving quarterback Jay Cutler's career in only one season as Bears coordinator. He previously worked with Peyton Manning and the Broncos.

Gase is expected to be interviewed by several teams in need of a coach. Before returning to the Eagles as coordinator three years ago, Shurmur was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns for two seasons.
