Nate Allen spent Tuesday trying to clear his name after he was detained and questioned by police in Fort Myers, Fla., on Monday.

The Eagles safety said a woman mistakenly accused him of exposing himself.

Allen, 27, was released and not charged after spending more than four hours in a holding cell. A Fort Myers police spokesman, Lt. Victor Medico, released a statement Tuesday.

"The Nate Allen investigation remains active," the statement said. "Allen is no longer in police custody and has not been charged with a crime at this time. The Fort Myers Police Department is currently working with the 20th Judicial Circuit Court State Attorney's Office for case review."

Allen appeared on local news stations and spoke to several publications about the ordeal. He did not respond to several requests for comment from The Inquirer.

He said he was pulled over late Monday afternoon after he left a restaurant. He said after a woman in the back of another police car identified him, he was taken into custody. Allen said a detective questioned him and said that he was being accused of masturbating while looking at a woman or women from the cab of a truck.

Allen said he denied the accusations and eventually was let go. His one-year contract with the Eagles is up in March. Allen is unlikely to return for a sixth season with the Eagles and will become a free agent.
