Here is what insiders saw at Eagles training camp:

A Philly Viking

You won't see it while he's on the field - that darn helmet will cover it - but check out Todd Herremans' new haircut when he's on the sideline.

It's a two-tone mohawk.

Wearing kelly green shorts; a plaid, short-sleeve, button-down shirt; and sunglasses to complement his new 'do, Herremans strolled into the NovaCare Complex on Thursday as if he was, well, in Minnesota.

"I got really into the History Channel, that show Vikings, and that's where I got it from," Herremans said of the shaved look. "So I've just been going with it. My girlfriend does it."

Despite his new interest in Leif Ericsson and Eric the Red, the big tackle did not add horns to his helmet, and he was not wearing anything purple and gold.

Feeding the horde

Training camp may no longer be in Bethlehem, Pa., but food from a popular lunch spot there that became an annual camp staple was served to reporters as the veterans reported Thursday.

Thanks to the Eagles, Deja Brew, a coffeehouse and deli in downtown Bethlehem, sent down some treats that included a delectable peanut butter ball.

What he does

The Eagles safeties had a difficult 2012 (and 2011), but Kurt Coleman was confident he would make the team despite added competition.

"I'm going to fly around," Coleman said. "I'm going to be a leader. I'm going to make plays. That's just what I do."
