DeSean Jackson leaves Rosenhaus, eyes deal with Jay Z

DeSean Jackson parted ways with agent Drew Rosenhaus last week and could sign on with Jay Z's Roc Nation Sports, according to NFL sources.

The Eagles wide receiver has to wait five days after he files paperwork with the NFL players union before he can start auditioning other agents.

Jay Z and his group, while new to the sports world, have already signed a number of high-profile clients. New York Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith recently fired his representation and went with the rapper's agency.

Jackson signed with Rosenhaus in November 2009 during his second season. The receiver wanted a new contract before his rookie deal was up, but as negotiations dragged on Jackson let the situation become a distraction.

There was never a restructuring, but in March 2012 the team placed the franchise tag on the receiver and a five-year, $51 million deal was struck, with $15 million guaranteed.

Despite the hefty-looking contract, only the first two years are mostly guaranteed. Jackson would earn about $10 million next season if the Eagles opted to bring him back.

The final two years on the deal average about $11 million each.

Jackson was voted into the Pro Bowl after the 2009 and 2010 seasons, but saw his production slip in the last two seasons. He missed the final five games of the 2012 campaign after suffering broken ribs.
