Rendell: Reid will resign if Eagles don't run the table

Ed Rendell thinks Eagles coach Andy Reid could be done. The former governor, a vocal, high-profile, and not-always-accurate Eagles fan, told reporters Tuesday that he thinks Reid will be gone if he doesn't "win his last seven games" this season. The Eagles are 3-6 and likely need to win all seven games - while other teams lose nearly as many - to make the playoffs.

"I think he will resign. I don't think they will fire him," Rendell said at a news conference, according to Peter L. DeCoursey, the bureau chief at Capitolwire.

Reid is in his 13th season with the Eagles and is overseeing one of the team's worst performances of his tenure.

Speculation about his job has swirled, though there have been no definitive statements from anyone in authority. Reid has given no indication that he intends to walk away.

In addition to being a fan of the Eagles, Rendell writes newspaper columns and appears on television as an Eagles analyst.

For what it's worth, according to DeCoursey, Rendell also said he thinks the Phillies will re-sign shortstop Jimmy Rollins.
