Lunardi: Temple, La Salle & Nova in NCAA tourney

Temple would be a 12 seed in the East region if the NCAA tournament field was picked today, according to ESPN college basketball analyst Joe Lunardi.

Temple would be a 12 seed in the East region if the NCAA tournament field was picked today, according to ESPN college basketball analyst Joe Lunardi.

Lunardi, known as Joey Brackets, dropped the Owls (13-6) from the region's 11th seed after Saturday's 83-71 setback at Butler.

In Tuesday's updated Bracketology, Lunardi has Temple facing the region's other No. 12 seed in a first-round matchup in Dayton. The winner would face meet No. 5 Minnesota in a second-round matchup in San Jose.

Lunardi, a St. Joseph's graduate who does Hawks radio broadcasts, has three Big Five teams and a total of four Atlantic Ten teams playing in the NCAA tournament.

He lists La Salle as the No. 12 seed in the South, where it would play No. 5 seed North Carolina State in a second-round matchup in Austin, Texas.  Villanova is projected as one of the West region's No. 12 seeds. The Wildcats would face co-12 seed Maryland in a first-round matchup in Dayton.

Lunardi lists Butler as the third seed in the East, while VCU is his seventh seed in the Midwest.
