Temple dismisses Kadeem Custis for violating a team rule

Temple has decided to part ways with  backup defensive end Kadeem Custis.

"He is no longer a part of our football team due to a violation of team rules," Owls coach Steve Addazio said.

Addazio wouldn't disclose which rule the 6-foot-4, 300-pound senior violated.

This isn't the first time he was separated from the team.

The Neumann-Goretti High School product was suspended for insubordination in December.

In August, Custis said that indefinite suspension was the turning point of his career.

"I did everything in my power, man, to stay with the Owls with academics and developing a good relationship with the coaches," he said during training camp. "I understand that I was a distraction last year."

Custis had five tackles, a sack and a pass breakup this season.

He was injured in Temple's 36-27 setback to Maryland on Sept. 8. He did not travel to State College for the Owls' 24-13 loss to Penn State on Sept. 22.
