Offensive lineman Fredrick "Juice" Scruggs of Erie Cathedral Prep announced Friday on Twitter that he has committed to Penn State for its freshman class of 2018.

The 6-foot-3, 270-pound Scruggs, rated four stars by recruiting services Rivals.com and Scout.com, reportedly had narrowed his choice of college to Penn State and Ohio State after making his final visits to both schools in April.

"This has been a very tough decision for me to make," Scruggs wrote. "All the universities and coaching staffs have given me a lot to think about. With that being said, I have had the time to look at all my options and I have made my decision.

"I'm excited to say I plan to continue my academic and football career at The Penn State University."

Scruggs is the 21st member of Penn State's freshman class of 2018 and its fourth offensive lineman. He also had been offered by Michigan, Michigan State, Louisiana State, Pittsburgh, North Carolina and Temple, among other schools.

Rivals ranks Scruggs, who played mostly offensive tackle in high school, as the nation's No. 17 offensive guard, and the 11th-best prospect in Pennsylvania. He is expected to play guard in college.
