Penn State’s Oct. 13 homecoming game time announced; K.J. Hamler named Big Ten freshman of the week

Hamler gained a career-high 195 all-purpose yards against Ohio State, including a 93-yard touchdown pass from Trace McSorley.

Penn State wide receiver K.J. Hamler, whose career-high 195 all-purpose yards against Ohio State included a 93-yard touchdown reception from Trace McSorley, was named Big Ten freshman of the week Monday.

Hamler, a redshirt freshman, established personal-best totals of four catches and 138 receiving yards in Saturday night's 27-26 loss to the Buckeyes. He added 47 yards on three kickoff returns and a punt return for 10 yards.

Hamler also was named to the weekly honor roll for the Paul Hornung Award given at the end of the season to the nation's most versatile college football player. He ranks fifth in the Big Ten in all-purpose yardage, averaging 127.2 per game.

Kickoff time set

The Big Ten announced that Penn State's Oct. 13 homecoming game against Michigan State will start at 3:30 p.m. and will be televised on Fox Sports 1 or the Big Ten Network.
