Will top tight end recruit choose Penn State?

NEW PENN STATE coach Bill O'Brien's success with tight ends with the New England Patriots has obviously not gone unnoticed by Adam Breneman.

NEW PENN STATE coach Bill O'Brien's success with tight ends with the New England Patriots has obviously not gone unnoticed by Adam Breneman.

A junior at Cedar Cliff High near Harrisburg, Breneman is considered the top tight end in the country in the Class of 2013.

He is scheduled to make his college choice public during a news conference tonight at the school, and most expect he will choose Penn State. He is also considering Ohio State, Notre Dame and Maryland.

"I am extremely excited/nervous for tomorrow," he tweeted yesterday. "Words can't describe how blessed I am. All the support from the different fans has been amazing."

The 6-5, 230-pound tight end with wide receiver speed would be the highest-ranked PSU committment since 2006, according to Rivals.com. Breneman caught 72 passes for 1,120 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior.

"Penn State has always been the school I've been a fan of, I grew up a fan and I'm still a fan," he told Rivals. "The most important football factor for me is how I'll be used as a tight end and you can see with what [O'Brien] did with Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski in New England that his offense is very tight-end friendly.

"It's also close to home, which is a bonus, and I think the staff will point things in the right direction."

He also has developed a relationship with Kyle Brady, a Cedar Cliff graduate who went on to become a Penn State great at tight end and played 13 seasons in the NFL.

O'Brien already has received three verbal commitments from juniors, including quarterback Christian Hackenburg from Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia.
