Drexel's Kurk Lee looks to build off big freshman season

Kurk Lee received a boatload of experience as a freshman and now will be among the team leaders for a Drexel team that has youth and experience.

The 5-foot-9 Lee has a game built on toughness and quickness. He's not afraid to challenge the biggest of defenders. Lee says he has worked on his perimeter game, although last year's 40 percent shooting from beyond the arc was tied for fourth in the Colonial Athletic Association.

Senior guard Sammy Mojica is a much improved shooter, while classmate Miles Overton can use his quickness to get inside and his power to finish among bigger players.

Transfers Tramaine Isabell (Missouri) and Troy Harper (Campbell) bring varied skills. Isabell's ball-handling ability should take some of the pressure off Lee. He is also a perimeter threat. Harper is a master penetrator. The Neumann-Goretti graduate is a typical Philadelphia guard, one not afraid of contact, who should draw his share of fouls taking it to the hoop.

Where Drexel has questions is in the frontcourt, but 6-8 power forward Austin Williams is strong enough defensively to cover for any mistakes. He has expanded his range, but will never be a three-point threat.

Alihan Demir, a 6-9 sophomore originally from Turkey and a transfer from Central Wyoming College, and 6-9 freshman Jarvis Doles have the ability to stretch defenses. Sam Green, a 6-6 sophomore, saw his role increase late in the season and should be a perimeter threat while 6-8, 250-pound senior Tyshawn Myles provides a physical presence inside.
