Paul Palmer, Andy Talley on ballot for College Football Hall

Kerry Collins and Steve Wisniewski are also on the ballot. The new inductees will be announced in January.

Temple running back Paul Palmer, Villanova linebacker Curtis Eller and coach Andy Talley, and quarterback Kerry Collins and guard Steve Wisniewski of Penn State were named on the 2018 National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame ballot announced Thursday.

The Hall of Fame listed 75 players and six coaches on the Football Bowl Subdivision ballot, and 98 players and 31 coaches on the divisional ballot. The new inductees will be introduced on Jan. 8 at the College Football Playoff national championship game, with the induction ceremony taking place in December 2018.

Palmer was a unanimous all-American in 1986 and finished second that season in the Heisman Trophy and Maxwell Award balloting. He set 23 school records and four NCAA records, including the single-season all-purpose yards mark of 2,633 in 1986. He rushed for 1,866 yards that season and 4,895 in his career.

Eller was a two-time all-American, making the team in 1991 and 1992. He was a two-time Yankee Conference defensive player of the year and the Sporting News' national defensive player of the year in 1992.

Talley coached for 32 years at Villanova and compiled a 230-137-1 record while leading the Wildcats to the 2009 Football Championship Subdivision national title and a total of 12 playoff appearances. A two-time national coach of the year, he also led the Cats to eight conference titles.

Collins won the Maxwell Award in 1994, a year in which he led Penn State to a 12-0 record as well as the Big Ten championship and a final No. 2 national ranking. He led the nation in passing that year and set single-season school records for yards, completions, completion percentage, and passing efficiency.

Wisniewski, a two-time All-America, started for three years and played on the Nittany Lions' 1986 national championship team. He blocked for two of the best running backs in school history, Blair Thomas and D.J. Dozier.
