La Salle continued a busy offseason by adding 6-foot-9 forward/center Demetrius Henry, who is transferring from South Carolina.

Henry started 48 games over two seasons for the Gamecocks. He must sit out this season and will have two years of eligibility at La Salle. He averaged 6.0 points and 3.6 rebounds last season.

"Demetrius is versatile and can face and post up, and is really athletic," La Salle coach John Giannini said Thursday. "He is really what we needed and will give us a strong roster."

That roster will include two other transfers who will be expected to make an impact. B.J. Johnson transferred from Syracuse in May. The 6-foot-7 former Lower Merion product, whose father, Bobby, played at La Salle, will have two years of eligibility after sitting out this season.

Memphis point guard Pookie Powell also transferred to La Salle after averaging 4.3 points and 2.7 assists last season. He will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

La Salle guard Khalid Lewis, who recently received his degree, has decided to transfer as a graduate student.
