After 40 years of waiting, the Mighty Macs finally received their due

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame welcomed its class of 2014 on Friday night at Symphony Hall, and the Philadelphia area was well represented.

The three Immaculata College women's championship teams, from 1972-74, were honored, as was the late Guy Rodgers of Temple and the Philadelphia Warriors.

Former Golden State star Mitch Richmond was the first to be inducted during the ceremony. Next up was Gary Williams, the Collingswood native who coached Maryland to 11 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances and the 2002 national championship.

Former NBA commissioner David Stern and former Lithuania star Sarunas Marciulionis also were honored, as were ex-NBA star Alonzo Mourning and former Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson.

Former Indiana Pacers coach Bob "Slick" Leonard and the late Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton of the New York Knicks rounded out the class.
