West Philly's Williams to fight Gonzalez in Vegas

Bout between two undefeateds set for September

UNDEFEATED West Philadelphia light middleweight Julian "J Rock" Williams (16-0-1, 10 knockouts) is set to return to the ring on Sept. 11 in Las Vegas against the also undefeated Eliezer "Wao" Gonzalez (14-0, 9 KOs).

The exact venue has yet to be announced. Fox Sports 1 will televise the Thursday night card, which will precede that Saturday's highly anticipated Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Marcos Maidana rematch at the MGM Grand.

Williams, 24, started his training camp in Philly just a couple weeks after his May 24 knockout of Michael Medina in Montreal. He said yesterday he doesn't know much about Gonzalez, a 27-year-old from Puerto Rico, but that he will adjust and adapt as needed as soon as the bell rings. It's perhaps a fitting opponent for Williams, who prides himself on versatility, the moniker "Mr. Do It All" displayed on the back of his boxing robe.

"I'm extremely excited," Williams said. "I don't really know what to look forward to because I haven't seen him fight. There's like almost no footage on him."

Gonzalez has fought all of his previous pro fights in Puerto Rico or the Dominican Republic and has won each of his last six by TKO. He is trained by Felix Trinidad Sr., father of recent International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee Felix "Tito" Trinidad.
