Martinsville win lifts Jimmie Johnson into points lead

MARTINSVILLE, Va. - Five-time Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson raced to his seventh career victory at Martinsville Speedway - NASCAR's trickiest oval - and Sunday's triumph in the Tums Fast Relief 500 helped him supplant Brad Keselowski as the points leader with three events remaining.

"I'm ecstatic about the win today and ecstatic about the points lead, but this is no cakewalk," Johnson said after the 59th victory of his career and fourth this season.

Johnson moved two points ahead of Keselowski, who finished sixth.

Johnson, who led eight times for 193 laps, passed Keselowski on Lap 487. He got a bonus point for leading a lap, one for leading the most laps, and three for the victory, wiping out a seven-point deficit.

Kyle Busch was second, followed by Kasey Kahne.

GREATER NIODA, India - Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel won the Indian Grand Prix for his fourth victory in a row, ahead of title rival Fernando Alonso of Ferrari and Mark Webber of Red Bull.

Alonso had led Vettel by 39 points, but the German turned the deficit into a 13-point lead heading into the final three races with victories in Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and India.

Randy Bernard stepped down as CEO of IndyCar but will stay on in an advisory role.

Jeff Belskus, the president of IMS, and president and CEO of Hulman & Co., will step in as interim CEO of the IndyCar Series.
