Despite trading Matt Barkley to Arizona yesterday, the Eagles are not keeping quarterback Tim Tebow, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter. The Eagles confirmed the move, as well as the cutting of 21 other players to get their roster down to 52, via a press release.

Barkley and Tebow's competition for the third quarterback spot on the Eagles' roster had been highly publicized, and Barkley's trade seemed to indicate the Eagles would be going with Tebow. However, Chip Kelly's plan seems to principally involve quarterbacks Sam Bradford and his back-up, Mark Sanchez.

When Tebow was brought in, it was never assumed he would inherit an influential role in the offense, but his performance at training camp had people talking: in his final preseason performance, he threw for 189 yards against the Jets defense, completing 11 of 17 passes for a pair of touchdowns and one interception while accumulating 32 rushing yards on four attempts.

Elsewhere, NFL Network's Rand Getlin says "multiple sources" are telling him the Eagles have interest in Christian Ponder.
