Report: 76ers to interview Ed Pinckney, a former Villanova star, for head coaching vacancy
The Sixers will interview Bulls assistant Ed Pinckney, who won a national title with Villanova in 1985.
The Philadelphia 76ers are currently the only team in the NBA without a head coach, but that will certainly change soon - mainly because it has to.
The latest rumors come from ESPN's Chris Broussard, who is reporting that the team will interview Bulls assistant Ed Pinckney, who won a national title with Villanova in 1985.
Broussard also reports that new GM Sam Hinkie plans to meet with another Bulls assistant, Adrian Griffin, and has shown interest in Nuggets assistant Melvin Hunt.
Pinckney, the 1985 NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player, was the 10th pick (Suns) in that year's draft. He played in the NBA for 13 seasons, including one with the Sixers (1995-96).
After spending 1997-2003 working on Miami Heat broadcasts, Pinckney moved into coaching. He served as an assistant coach under Jay Wright at 'Nova from 2003-2007 before the Minnesota Timberwolves staff.
He spent the 2009-10 season doing color commentary on Sixers broadcasts, but returned to coaching as a member of the Bulls staff in 2010.
