CLEARWATER, Fla. – Domonic Brown hit two home runs and drove in four runs and the Phillies got five strong innings from Cole Hamels in a 6-1 victory against Detroit on Tuesday at Bright House Field.

Brown, who figures to start the season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, hit a solo shot off Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander that landed on the highway over the right-field wall in the second inning and greeted Detroit reliever Phil Coke with a two-run homer in the Phillies four-run fourth inning.

In that fourth inning, Ryan Howard hit his first home run of the spring – a two-run shot that landed near Brown's first home run on U.S. 19 outside the stadium in right field.

Phillies starter Cole Hamels won his first game of the spring in his third outing. Hamels went five innings and gave up an unearned run in the third inning when Howard couldn't handle a pick-off throw and the ball went down the right-field line. Hamels threw 53 pitches, 37 for strikes and only allowed two hits while striking out four with no walks.

Danys Baez, B.J. Rosenberg, Antonio Bastardo and Ryan Madson pitched one inning each for the Phillies (7-4) with Rosenberg yielding the only other hit for the Tigers (7-7).
